Philippe Blondel

Philippe is Deputy Director and co-founder of the Centre for Space, Atmospheric and Ocean Studies (CSAOS, U. Bath, UK). With several decades of experience in the field, across all oceans except the Antarctic, Philippe has mapped mid-ocean ridges and participated to the discovery of new hydrothermal sites, investigated geohazards like past tsunamis around Europe and designed bistatic sonars to characterise toxic waste dumped at sea. He also works with British Standards and the International Quiet Ocean Experiment. His exploration of marine habitats has included vegetation, whales, climate change in the Arctic, human impacts, and the de-risking of marine renewable energies.

Ying-Tsong Lin

Ying-Tsong (YT) Lin is an Associate Scientist with Tenureat the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.  His most recent research focus is at distributed hydrophone array networks, which combines 3D hydrophone arrays, AUVs and high performance signal processing for detection, classification and localization (DCL).  Dr. Lin received prestigious A B Wood Medal from the Institute of Acoustics, UK in 2015, and Medwin Prize in Acoustical Oceanography from the Acoustical Society of America, USA in 2018.  He is a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America, USA and the 12th person in history to visit the bottom of Challenger Deep in 2020.
